Frampton has already made two defences of his IBF super-bantamweight belt while Quigg has been WBA world champion since 2013 — though the world’s number one ranked super-bantamweight, Guillermo Rigondeuax, is also the WBA ‘super’ champion.
There has been lots of talks over the last couple years but finally it looks like it will happen,” Gallagher told ESPN.
“There will be lots of trash talk, lots of hype and lots of build up.
“It will be an event, and it’s the British equivalent to Erik Morales-Marco Antonio Barrera.”
Both fighters would go into the bout undefeated in their careers with Belfast native Frampton 21-0 since turning pro in 2009.
Quigg has two draws in his 33-fight career but has only fought once — a TKO win over Kiko Martinez in July — since 2014.
